MAL was incorporated as a limited company in April 1990 to address the new markets created by Home Office’s requirement to modernise retained firefighter callout systems. The company name changed to mal information technology ltd in 1999, a name more appropriately reflecting the company’s activities.

The company is totally committed to producing high quality solutions at affordable costs.


  1990  British Home Office (HO) Contract for Retained Firefighter Callout Trial System
  1991  General HO approval for the Retained Firefighter Callout System (RFCS-1)
  1992  First orders for RFCS-1 from Mid Glamorgan Fire Brigade, 25 Fire Stations and 500 Alerters
  1992  Design of improved Retained Firefighter Callout System (RFCS-2)
  1992  Paging transmitters approved by Radiocommunications Agency
  1992 First orders for RFCS-2
  1992  Granted formal Contract for RFCS-2 by HO (Contract N° SO 15-92-0016)
  1994  Approval from the Irish Department of the Environment for RFCS-2 and first Irish orders.
  1994  Company achieves approval to the Quality Standard ISO9002 (Certificate Q3719)
  1995  Further orders for RFCS-2s from Ireland
  1996  Design of React the Resource, Access, Time Information System
     First order taken for non Fire Brigade React ™ system – Heathrow Airport
     First Fire Brigade React orders placed.
  1998  React improved housing for the Fire station CPU and ongoing software enhancements
  1999  Further robust software for React Financial Report Generator, Management Reports, etc
  2000  Development and Sales of React and RFCS-2 transferred to mal information technology ltd. The name being more in keeping with our current activities.
  2002  Second generation RFCS-2 developed and production commenced.
     Tertiary Mobilising Unit designed and deployed, to enable fire station mobilisation independent of conventional landline access to stations. Standard unit calls all station personnel as a single team.
  2003  Majority of our Brigades updated to the second generation RFCS-2
     Achieved accreditation to the latest quality standard ISO 9001-2000
  2004  Enhancement of the basic Tertiary Mobilising Unit to selectively call up three Fire Teams plus Test
     Development of Rosta™, a method of intelligently mobilising an appliance by automatically programming the station’s RFCS-2 according to appropriately skilled and available firefighters.
  2005  New digital transmitter incorporated into the second generation RFCS-2
     SEMS - Station End Mobilising System designed to be integrated with the RFCS-2 or available seperately.
     Developed new software to enable 'Smart Mobilising' of specialist teams such as Co-Responder, Rescue Tender, Marine etc.
  2006  POCSAG repeater added to our product portfolio during 1st Quarter 2006
